CLASSROOM ENVIRONMENT
In most Russian medical universities and institutes, the class sizes generally
tend to be small with a student teacher ratio of 8:1, to give
students a more attentive and personal learning environment.
The main aim of such close interaction between teacher and class
is to encourage students to take an active role through class
participation. The teaching methods for classes may vary depending
on the demands of the degree but generally involve practical sessions,
theory, lectures, and individual research projects and group projects. |

These
classroom environments and teaching methods are monitored by the
respective universities’ heads and continuously improved. The Russian
medical university syllabi are designed to help foster the development of
mature minds and students' independence and ability to formulate
their own judgements. This ensures that students get a strong academic
foundation to be able to pursue an education path that leads from
an undergraduate degree to a graduate degree and finally, to becoming
a qualified specialist.
